About
“All great art is a return to nature” a phrase that Judith Leman has embraced throughout her 30 year practice of painting people, horses and dogs. Judith was influenced from her tutors in oil and watercolour, that painting lies in contrasts and relations of tones and what finishes a painting is not the quality of details but the truth as a whole.
Judith, influenced by great painters such as John Singer-Sargent, Philip de Laszlo, Alfred Munnings and contemporary John Ward, has developed her art in the sporting fraternity of Racing, Hunt and Polo. Her clients are those who not only love their horses but have the knowledge of owning a painting as a record of time and connnection, which will be handed down in history to further family generations.
Judith is based in Melbourne, Australia. She travels extensively with commissions and works hang in private collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Europe and Japan.
Judith is the Principal of the Melbourne School of Equestrian Painting. The School founded in 2011 promotes and encourages the practice of Equestrian painting and the appreciation of this timeless art form.
